Kan Tae-Jun - the second son of the Fire Lord - but not particularly skilled in much. He was not the favored son of a military-based leadership, without strategy or swordsmanship to his name. However he was suddenly sent to a part of their lands - desolate, struggling to find a way to cultivate their crops - and as you could guess, he wasted away a bit.
He found it hard to find his footing, struggling without the protection of his brother. Famine and illness etched itself into the framework of the town, plaguing its citizens... and he, a lord without hope for help, was suddenly scrambling.
It's sad, isn't it? When those tasked to rule are unable to do so.
