[ she's sure her face sticks out in the crowd, but she's grateful he hasn't even mentioned anything about her Mechon body - maybe it's not as strange to people from other worlds. ]
Oh, I hope we aren't here that long. This has all been so crazy. -- Um, I think that's enough spices, [ she adds as they start to crowd the counter. ] Speaking of, do you want it spicy or not?
[no it's strange and he's curious but he's not going to be impolite when she's offering to feed him? he might ask about it later but he's just going with the flow lately,]
Oh, something spicy could be fun.
[he's willing to try! but he just offers a bit of a smile]
It has been rather disorienting, you're right about that. Are you adjusting well enough?
Well enough, [ she repeats with a small shrug of her shoulders. ] As much as anyone can adjust to all this. I'm more worried about my friends back home than me.
[ time to start chopping up veggies. she slides the singular carrot over his way, holding out a knife for him once it's moved. His work is not done... ]
[ she was prepared to teach him how to do that, too... that makes life easier. Fiora looks up when he mentions that, although she keeps working as she does so - a combination of lots of practice and a lack of fear of cutting her fingers. ]
Time's stopped?! What makes you say that? It would be nice if it was true, but...
[he's not completely hopeless! he's seen people cook before he just can't do anything if he doesn't know the recipe
but! he'll answer even as he works on cutting - a bit more slowly compared to her pace]
There are some people here who are from the same place - and their memories are misaligned, from what I understand. The fortunate part of that is that it means that it implies time has been stopped - and possibly the creation of a branching timeline - because it would have been far harder to miss someone disappearing out of the blue to be kidnapped.
I never thought of time as something linear - there are multiple choices that one can make in their life after all, if things were just slightly different each time they made a pivotal choice...
Though I suppose I'd only entertained it as a thought experiment until now.
[ they're always a lot closer than anyone realizes. If it wasn't for Shulk and his visions, who knows how many more people would have died already...? After embarrassing herself blurting out that little tidbit to Alex earlier, however, Fiora decides to keep that particular facet of her home life to herself for now, and continues on while she grinds up some garlic into paste. ]
Maybe that's why all of us remember such different things, too? We're all from really different timelines?
That's an idea - to have all the worlds that we've come from branching from one origin point, and how all the worlds shaped were because of the decisions that people made...
[he hums thoughtfully, almost wistfully]
... though as much as I'd like to agree, there are some aspects of worlds that refer to their very core composition that might be a little harder to explain away.
[ it's a good place to start!! She's obviously very comfortable in the kitchen and doesn't seem to mind him watching, either. ]
Well, I've never been anywhere else, so I can't quite say it's unique, but it's certainly part of it. We all live on the Bionis, and ether is like the Bionis's blood - all life on Bionis is born from it. [ she shakes her head. ] I can't believe there's places without it! You may as well say your world doesn't have air or water.
Oh, yes! We use it to power all sorts of things - vehicles, weapons, machines... It can be used to heal people, too. There are old ether mines all over.

[he's going to bring out the whole pantry until she tells him to stop]
I'll happily volunteer for this task. Thank you.
[this is the attitude that let kano feed him a peanut butter taako]

anyway, while he's doing that, she'll start getting out pots and utensils and all the things she'll need to make curry. ]
I'm Fiora, by the way. You are?
no subject
anyway - he's bringing out so many spices still]
Won! It's a pleasure to meet you, Fiora. There's still a few faces I haven't gotten to meet yet, but I'm starting to think we have time for that.
no subject
Nice to meet you, too, Won.
[ she's sure her face sticks out in the crowd, but she's grateful he hasn't even mentioned anything about her Mechon body - maybe it's not as strange to people from other worlds. ]

Ah... Well, I do have a theory on that - so I believe your friends will hopefully not notice your absence.
There's a chance that time's stopped.

[ she hadn't heard that, but she definitely believes it. She hums in thought, a little worried. ]
That does make sense, but I've got to wonder if we'll really be all right creating multiple futures like that...
[ spoken like someone who has experience, weirdly ]

[ it's a bit of a scary thought?! is there another Fiora out there somewhere? Weird. ]
no subject
It's a humbling thought, isn't it? That there may be versions of events that are ever so slightly different from the norm you know.
Or perhaps incredibly different.

[ a pause and a small laugh. ]
It seems like my world's the strange one to most people.
no subject
Not unusual... but there are some worlds where magic seems very commonplace, as if woven into the very fabric of everyday existence.
For myself, coming from a world without such a thing... it's hard to imagine how the worlds could be branched from one another.
no subject
[ time to start cooking this stuff... she's putting some oil in a pan and putting on the heat!! ]
no subject
for now he's still gotta learn]
It doesn't - I take it that yours does? Is that part of what makes it unique?
no subject

Is ether something that you can harness? Can you create things from it?

he looks impressed with the scope of it]
My... What a flexible type of magic. That's very fortunate for you all - though I suppose it comes with setbacks if it can also be part of weaponry.
no subject
Fighting's just a part of life - especially because we're at war. Ether weapons have saved my life a few times, too.
no subject
[it's hard for him to encourage any form of fighting, knowing what it brings to the common people]
