[and soo-won will move to go and start getting water to boil in a kettle anyway]
... I found a brew that reminds me of my home, so in a way it does. It's some nostalgia and comfort. [a beat] It smells like flowers, if you'd like any.
[Shaking his head quickly at that. Sounds like hell, actually.]
Nah, um. Actually, funny story, she's only really been back a few weeks for me. In her memory it's even less time, so-- we were separated, for a while.
[A bit of relief, actually, that he doesn't have to explain All That.]
Yeah, well, me too.
[But]
The thing is though, during that time alone stuff, ran into a few like poisoning incidents, you know, um [He actually pauses, looking kind of confused, before he shakes it off.] So, I dunno. Don't really take food from strangers. Or like not strangers.
[ . . . . . that's true. soo-won moves to pour their cups of tea and yes it really, really smells like flowers. but he'll offer it out to taako regardless]
... would you be willing to share it with someone else? Even if they're only to hold onto it temporarily.
[ . . . ]
Lup asked me to - she said she wanted me to remember everything about you, in case she forgot.
[a beat]
A little lucky, since I wanted to get to know you anyway.
Ah, very well - then.... I can tell you about my father, if you think it's worth listening to.
He was a military man. Gallant, strong, intelligent - an incredible leader. There's noble blood in my family, you see, and there was a time in which he was passed over as heir to the family line, despite being the eldest. Yet despite the complaints of everyone in our family's care, he only said that he didn't care for the position - he would continue to fight on the frontlines, and protect our country and his younger brother.
When I was young - I'd thought that he was the greatest person. I thought that I would even become a soldier myself, and fight alongside him on the battlefield, and I'd give my life at his command.
[a beat]
Ah - though he passed away, mere months after that. But I think that he's a large influence in my life, and his memory is one that I cling onto most earnestly.
[he offers up a smile, fond and.... slightly nervous around the edges]
[Taako looks a little awkward at being confronted with a very personal story of someone elses, but he's trying very hard to be nice about it so he just nods.]
Oh-- sorry about your dad. I'll, uh, try and remember that one for you then, I guess?
I don't have a good one in exchange for that because I did not know my old man, or care to I guess.
week 0, post-trial
and he's just going to smile upon realizing this, offering a wave in greeting and:]
So... how about those Knicks?
[he's trying]
no subject
[Taako waves back a little, pulling his (fishtail) braid over his shoulder.]
Does the tea really help?
no subject
[and soo-won will move to go and start getting water to boil in a kettle anyway]
... I found a brew that reminds me of my home, so in a way it does. It's some nostalgia and comfort. [a beat] It smells like flowers, if you'd like any.

[That's really sweet, actually. Taako just leans against the counter, holding the edge of it and tapping his nails on the cabinet.]
I'll take some, I just don't promise I'll drink it or anything.
no subject
[he overheard the conversation with xie lian and thought it was really funny
but his smile is sincere as he goes to get the tea leaves]
no subject
Obviously I wouldn't deign to drink gutter water or, uh, shit like that.
[. . .]
It isn't like anything personal though. Just don't really, uh, take food from people that often?
no subject
[he tilts his head]
Would you like it if someone tried to cook for you?
no subject
Nah, um. Actually, funny story, she's only really been back a few weeks for me. In her memory it's even less time, so-- we were separated, for a while.
no subject
... she told me a bit about it. The way in which you were separated.
[ . . . ]
I'm glad you're back together.
no subject
Yeah, well, me too.

The thing is though, during that time alone stuff, ran into a few like poisoning incidents, you know, um [He actually pauses, looking kind of confused, before he shakes it off.] So, I dunno. Don't really take food from strangers. Or like not strangers.
no subject
Is there a gap in your memory?
[he can't help but ask - but he easily moves on as well, giving taako the out if he doesn't want to examine it]
I understand. I'll break the rules of politeness to pour myself a cup first so you know it's safe.
no subject
[He scratches the back of his head, rolling it over.]
It's. How do you even tell? Maybe I just . . . forgot.
no subject
Or it could sit oddly, feeling like an unnatural gap of something that you wouldn't let go of normally.
At the very least... that's how I try to identify what might be missing.
Though at least you have Lup - she said that if she forgot anything, she could just ask you. I imagine the same is true in reverse.
no subject
I dunno. She's forgotten-- And there's stuff I don't think she even knows. I mean. I was alone for a few years there.
no subject
... would you be willing to share it with someone else? Even if they're only to hold onto it temporarily.
[ . . . ]
Lup asked me to - she said she wanted me to remember everything about you, in case she forgot.

no subject
Really? [ . . . ] Why? Apart from the fact we're magnetic and charming.
no subject
I'm sorry - Lup asks me the same thing often. Why am I kind to her, as if there's something that I want. You said the same thing a few days ago too...
[he shakes his head]
While it might appear paltry now... I'm afraid I have no reasons besides that I like you, and I want to get to know you.
no subject
Why don't you tell me something deeply personal about you. In case I need blackmail? Eye for an eye.
no subject
[he looks thoughtful at that, as if trying to pick a Thing]
I don't know if any piece is particularly interesting, though...

Would that suffice?

That's alright - Lup mentioned that, so I didn't expect an exact one in kind.
But whatever it is that you'd like to share, I'd be honored to hold onto it.
