Oh, definitely not. Anyone who tries to hide their past behind pretty words and a nice uniform is a liar. A truly good person lets their past inform their present.

Sadly, there's a lot of those types- the ones hiding themselves- in religion. People take 'God forgives you' to mean 'you have no consequences for your actions', when that's not the truth at all.
