there is the sound of a hawk cry in the sky which is perhaps the only warning before it SWOOPS SUDDENLY PAST HIM

there's a gust of wind and is probably a little hard to follow - up until the hawk lands on soo-won's outstretched arm a few feet away. he looks a little surprised at that, and at seeing sora before offering up a sheepish smile]

Oh - that seemed a bit close. I'm sorry, are you alright? Gulfan, say sorry too.

[that sure is a bird!! which means he's ducking on instinct and crying out in surprise before he looks up and spots both hawk and soo-won in front of him. but lucky for both of them he doesn't seem bothered outside of that and instead smiles back.]

Don't worry about it, it just surprised me. [bird...he's very fascinated.] Where did he come from? Is he yours?

[he will not even question it whenever he does get around to reading soo-won's profile. sometimes people just go by other names? it's fine. there's an enthusiastic nod to go with that answer.] I know this town's still pretty small, but I thought it would be a good idea to look around and see if anything's changed since yesterday.

Hmm, then would you mind if I came with you? Gulfan can observe from the skies and tell us if he finds anything.

Yeah, sure! It'd probably be better if we worked together right? We can cover more ground and if Gulfan can look above that's even better. [sora would completely believe the bird is this smart.] I definitely want to go back to the train station and see if anything's changed. And check the items in that big shop again.

I've heard about trains but I've never been on one - I hope we get to see it soon.

I hope so, too. I wonder where it even goes. [but that's interesting.] How do you usually travel in your world?

Horseback.

I hear it's very old-fashioned....

A little bit. I've never really traveled by horse myself, but we don't have those on my island. [they also don't have trains, but whatever.] Trains aren't bad though. They're a lot faster than horses at least.

So I've heard - and cars are even faster than those?

[he has no idea what he's saying]

It sounds like people are really capable of inventing amazing things.

Um...depends on the car and train, I guess? [he can't even correct him.] We usually travel by gummi ship which is fast enough to get between worlds, but it still feels a little slow sometimes. even while he's talking he seems to be looking around.]

What's your world like? Different than the others you've heard about so far?

Mm! I hail from the country of Kouka - which is a beautiful land. I can't speak for the whole world since I've only been on the continent, but I'd like to see it all for myself one day!

[he doesn't say it, but he does let a hand come up and soar through the air. you know. like a spaceship. whooosh.]

I've never heard of it, but it sounds nice. [sometimes names just give you an idea of a place.] Do you think you'll get the chance to see it all whenever we get back to where we came from?

[what. what is he looking at. a bird? he watches sora's hands in confusion for a bit before laughing a bit at the question]

I'd like to! Though I'm a bit busy.... I travel a lot as a merchant, but most of my contacts are within the country itself, and they do rely on me.

A merchant? So you do trades and stuff across the country? What kind of stuff do you have? [he's trying to pinpoint what makes soo-won special and why he might be here. also he's just chatty my nature while they're exploring.]

Mm, I do. Normally my wares are different types of stones and ornamental jewelry.

[he doesn't mind! he likes chatting, too]

I don't have all that many of my wares with me now, though.

[soo-won is just a moogle...that's about what he's equating it to right now, but there's an understanding nod.]

Were you missing a lot of stuff when you woke up, too?

Primarily other people that I expected to be close by, if I'm honest but... yes.

Were your belongings ransacked as well?

[that makes sense. a lot of people were with other people before arriving here.]

Yeah. Not only that, but my powers stopped working, too. I didn't realize it until someone else tried to use theirs but everything's gone.

Ah, I'd heard that mentioned too - though I don't have any powers myself to take inventory of.

Lup suggested something like an 'antimagic field' being in place.

Could be. When Elsa and I were trying to get her ice powers to work we thought that make it means this world's magic is stronger than anything else. It could explain why our things are missing, too, if the world itself took them.

Doesn't sound like all that much is in our favor, if the world's so powerful...

[he hums thoughtfully even as he looks around]

We'll probably need to continue collecting information. Even though I understand everyone getting antsy, it's still early yet, I believe.
