I'm not sure. It's that, or because he has a wish that he wanted so badly he was willing to rush to violence to get it, or some other reason why he wanted to buy into the competition.

But they'll have to learn to protect themselves, and their leaders will need to learn how to shelter them - otherwise there's no point. Complacency will just return it all to ruin.

However, once we solve all this, they should all be returned to me, no? So I'd like to stabilize the nova, but whether or not I generate the greatest number in my effort to do so doesn't actually matter to me. I hope to contribute.... but care little for rankings.
